Senta achieved her PhD with the Optical Engineering and Quantum Photonics group, supported by Parker Aerospace in Bristol and supervised by Peter G. R. Smith, Christopher Holmes, Mohammed El-Hajjar and Lewis J. Boyd (Parker Aerospace), in February 2022.
Senta completed a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology focusing in Micro-, Nano- and Optoelectronics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. She wrote her Master thesis with the Silicon Photonics group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) in Southampton.
Her research focuses on developing optical sensors for aerospace based on planar and fibre Bragg gratings.
Senta is was the chair of the IEEE Student branch in Southampton, the ORC Student Representative within the Faculty Grad School Committee and Coordinator and Hiring Manager of the ECS MSc Mentoring Scheme. She is also very engaged in outreach activities such as Light Express, Lightwave and Accelerate.
